Altagamma International Honorary Council

The Altagamma Honorary Council was founded in 2002 and represents one of Altagamma’s international networks. The membership of the Council is made up of 97 businesses and cultural institutions that have contributed in various ways to promoting the culture of excellence and the highest values of the Italian lifestyle in their countries. For its members, it represents the ideal place for broad-ranging, sector-based comparison, for exchanging assessments on market trends, and for establishing together the ideal strategies to fulfil the expectations of final consumers, as part of a business partnership. Since 2002 various events have involved both the formal induction ceremony for new Honorary Members and bilateral meetings between Altagamma company managers and representatives of guest companies to establish new contacts and evaluate business opportunities.

15/04/2011 The australian SPACE become a member of the Altagamma International Honorary Council

Altagamma International network has a new member: Space, australian retailer leader in design furniture and partner of the most important Altagamma Companies, became a part of the Altagamma International Honorary Council.
The induction ceremony was held during the Design Week in Milan: on Friday April 15th, Christina Caredes, SPACE General Manager, has received from Armando Branchini the symbols of the Altagamma International Honorary Council, in the presence of Giorgio Busnelli from B&B Italia and Cristina Morozzi, design sector manager in Fondazione Altagamma.
Space launched its first showroom in Sydney in 1993, quickly establishing the benchmark for design retailing in Australia. Since then the company has developed into South-East Asia’s largest and most progressive retailer of contemporary design. Today Space has five purpose-built showrooms in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

20/09/2007 Altagamma, supporting Italian excellence in the world for the last 15 years

Altagamma celebrated its fifteenth anniversary since inception in Rome, on a day richly filled with various events. This was an anniversary celebrated in grand style, with representatives from all member companies, many new and old honorary members and meetings with Italy's highest institutions and the main ministers in charge of Altagamma areas of reference. Following the welcome dinner on 19 September on the Eden Terrace. the 20th of September began with the audience of an Altagamma delegation at the Quirinale, which included 120 representatives of Altagamma Companies and Honorary Members who were received by the President of Italy, Giorgio Napolitano. Present at the audience were the Minister of International Commerce, the Honorable Emma Bonino and the Minister of Economic Development, the Honorable Pierluigi Bersani, who joined President Napolitano in voicing their appreciation and congratulations, underlining the significant role Altagamma Companies play in promoting Italy throughout the world. Following this, a meeting was held at Casina Valadier, the theme of which was ""Altagamma, supporting Italian excellence in the world over the last 15 years,"" which was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Cultural Assets and Activities, the Honorable Francesco Rutelli. Following the presentations of Leonardo Ferragamo and Francesco Rutelli, Altagamma's founding chairman Santo Versace and the vice chairmen Carlo Guglielmi, Matteo Cordero di Montezemolo and Andrea Illy participated in the round table discussion: coordinated by Alan Friedman coordinating, during which they reiterated the history of Altagamma and set forth the major issues faced by the high end sectors. The Induction Ceremony of the new European members of the Altagamma International Honorary Council concluded the event. As from 20 September the following companies are the newest honorary members of Altagamma: Boyner Holding, Brunscwhig & CIE, Carouzos, Deloudis, El Corte Inglés, Fashion Club 70, Kadewe, Kafea Emporiki Techniki, Le Bon Marché, Meubles et Fonctions, Peek & Cloppenburg, Printemps and Santa Eulalia.

07/11/2006 The Experience of Excellence in India, 7 and 8 November 2006

The Indian market was the theme of the convention held in Milan on 7 and 8 November 2006 and featured the attendance of the Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry, the Honorable Kamal Nath. The Induction Ceremony of the new Indian members of the Altagamma International Honorary Council was held on the evening of Tuesday, 7 November, at the Chiostri dell'Umanitaria. These were: FICCI (Federation of India Chambers of Commerce and Industry), the Hindustan Times, the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ogaan Publications, The Oberoi Group, The Wadia Group and Verve. On Wednesday 8 November at the Palazzo Mezzanotte, the Experience of Excellence in India convention was held, with the attendance of the Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry, the Honorable Kamal Nath, the President of Lombardy Roberto Formigoni, the Undersecretary of European Policies and International Commerce, Senator Milos Budin, the Chairman of FICCI Samoj Kumar Poddar. The introductory speech was given by Leonardo Ferragamo. lan Friedman coordinated two round table discussions on the opportunities, barriers and strategies for entry into the Indian high end market. Over the two days. approximately 50 bilateral meetings were held between representatives of the Member Companies and the Indian guest companies. This was an opportunity for establishing new contacts and business opportunities, while the high number of meetings that took place is proof of the success of this event. 15/06/2005 Altagamma Brands in the World Economy and in the Emerging Markets 15-16 June 2005

Russia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East are the markets to which the Altagamma Diplomacy event held on 25 and 16 June 2005 was dedicated. The magnificent residence of Villa Madama was made available to Altagamma by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and it was here that on Wednesday evening the Induction Ceremony of the new members of the Altagamma International Honorary Council took place. They are: Al Ostoura, Al Rubaiyat, Al Tayer Group, Babochka, Bosco di Ciliegi, Cinmar Lighting, Imaco, Jamilco Zao, La Galerie Semaan, Lumina Aydinlatma, Mercury Distribution, Paris Gallery, Tony Salame Group, UAE, Villa Moda. On Thursday 16 June, at the Temple of Hadrian, the Altagamma Chairman Leonardo Ferragamo introduced the work of ""The Experience of Excellence"" convention: Altagamma Brands in the World Economy and in the Emerging Markets". Alan Friedman coordinated the three round table discussions that the convention was built around: the first, which focused on the role of Altagamma brands in the global economy, was attended by the Minister of Industry, the Honorable Claudio Scajola,the Deputy Minister of Foreign Commerce, the Honorable Adolfo Urso and the Chairman of Confcommercio, Sergio Billè. The subsequent round table discussions analyzed the situation and outlook of consumption of high end products in Eastern Europe and the Middle East.

17/03/2005 The Experience of Excellence in the UK

The induction of new United Kingdom members was held in London on 17 March 2005. The ceremony took place at the Royal Academy of the Arts, concurrently with the exhibit ""Luxury Living - Italian Designers for Italian Industries." The symbols of AIHC membership, the precious silver plate designed and manufactured by Bulgari and a parchment was delivered to the new British members by the Chairman of Altagamma, Leonardo Ferragamo, in the presence of the President of Italy Carlo Azeglio Ciampi. The new members were: Royal College of Art, Saint Martins College of Art & Design, Carluccio's, Club 21, Eurofood, Harvey Nichols, House of Fraser, Kurt Geiger, Selfridges, Tate Modern.

08/07/2004 The Experience of Excellence in Asia on 8 and 9 July 2004

Asian companies were the focus of the Diplomacy Event held in Rome on 8 and 9 July 2004. On 8 July the ceremony in which Leonardo Ferragamo, the Chairman of Altagamma, inducted the new honorary members into the Altagamma International Honorary Council was held at the Villa Madama. The new members were: Banyan Tree Group, Daimaru, Hang Lung Group, ImagineX Group, Isetan, Kenzo Tange Associates, Li & Fung, Lotte, Mahagaya Perdana, Medium, Mitsui, Mitsukoshi, Rainbow Group, RSH Limited, Rustan Group, Sanki Shoji, Sanyo Shokai, Sun Motoyama, Takashimaya, The Hour Glass, The Link, Tianhong, Yamagiwa. On the next day, at the Temple of Hadrian, the convention ""The Experience of Excellence in Asia"" took place and was attended by the Minister of Productive Activities, the Honorable Antonio Marzano, the Chairman of Confindustria, Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, the Chairman of Confcommercio, Sergio Billè and various chairmen and top managers of Altagamma Companies and twenty entrepreneurs operating in China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. The three round table discussions focused on consumption trends for high end products in the three macro-areas of China, Northern Asia and Southern Asia.

25/06/2004 The Experience of Excellence in the USA 25 June 2004

On 25 June 2004, the second meeting of the North American companies that are members of the Altagamma International Honorary Council took place in Florence. Three new members were inducted on this occasion: Barney's New York, Hearst Magazine and Harry Rosen, respectively represented by their chairmen, Howard Socol, Michael Cinton and Harry Rosen. The Induction Ceremony was held at the Palazzo Vecchio and a round table discussion coordinated by Alan Friedman followed on consumption trends for high end products in the US market, in which representatives of Altagamma and the recently inducted companies participated. At the end of the ceremony, the guests moved on to the Palazzo Pitti for dinner, visiting the Vasarian Corridor which passes through the Galleria degli Uffizi and connects the two buildings.

10/07/2003 The Experience of Excellence in the USA 10 and 11 July 2003

The Induction Ceremony of the new members of the Altagamma International Honorary Council took place at the Villa Madama in Rome on 10 July 2003. The new members were: the American Express Company, Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdale's, Condè Nast Publications, Gruppo Ristoratori Italiani, Interior Design Magazine, Louis Boston, Luminaire, Mitchells/Richards, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and Visa International. That evening, the representatives of the Altagamma and the US companies attended a reception held by the President of Italy, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, at the Palazzo del Quirinale. The next day the ""The Experience of Excellence in the USA"" convention took place at the Temple of Hadrian and the introductory speech was given by the chairman of the Rome Chamber of Commerce, Andrea Mondello and the Chairman of Altagamma, Leonardo Ferragamo. This convention, which was coordinated by Alan Friedman, featured three round table discussions. The first focused on the performance of high end products in the major international markets. It was preceded by the presentation of the Altagamma Observatory of World Markets 2003 by the chairman of Bain&Co, Giovanni Cagnoli. The round table discussion on the current situation and outlook for the US high end market began with a report on the recovery of the US economy by Kristine Miller, the director of Bain&Co San Francisco. The round table discussion on "The Culture of Excellence in the development strategies of Altagamma Companies" was introduced by Guido Corbetta, Co-Director of MAFED (Master in Fashion, Experience & Design Management), the post-graduate curriculum offered by SDA Bocconi and Altagamma in Milan.

28/01/2003 The Experience of Excellence in Germany 28 January 2003

Altagamma's first international diplomacy event took place on 28 January 2003 at Munich's Prinzregententheater with the 'The Experience of Excellence' convention, organized by Altagamma and Condé Nast Verlag. The convention was the first step towards building the network of relations with international companies and institutions which became the Altagamma International Honorary Council a few months later. After the salutation by the Managing Director of Conde Nast Verlag and Vice-President of Conde Nast International Bernd Runge, the Chairman of Altagamma Leonardo Ferragamo, explained the purpose and objectives of the convention after which the Secretary General Armando Branchini introduced the Altagamma delegation and the Vice-Chairman Santo Versace spoke on the strategies for reaction to the current economic situation which was followed by a round table discussion on the subject. Armando Branchini introduced the second round table discussion, centered on the business partnership between the Altagamma companies and the German retailers and the strategies of Italian fashion, design, food and hospitality brands.
