These are the main evidences emerged by the update of Altagamma Monitor and Altagamma Consensus, presented to the media in Milan.
wo big appointments in a week for Fondazione Altagamma in India: the India Design Forum 2013, the most important design-based event in India, connecting Indian and international designers and companies, was held in Mumbai on march 15-16. Altagamma was partner of the initiative for the second year: Armando Branchini (FONDAZIONE ALTAGAMMA), Roberto Gavazzi (BOFFI) e Rodrigo Rodriquez (FLOS) participated to the Forum, telling the origins and the characteristics of the italian design business model and presented their success cases.
The same speakers participated to the workshop organized on March 16th by Altagamma, ICE and Italian Embassy, during which Italian and Indian entrepreneurs and designers discussed the theme “Technology behind Italian Design”. For Altagamma also Manuel Gomiero (VENINI) e Carlo Roncato (ARTEMIDE) stepped in.
From Design to Luxury: on March 22 and 23 the Hindustan Times MINT Luxury Conference 2013 took place in Delhi. Fondazione Altagamma is partner of this event since the first editions. It was an important occasion to further discuss the issues concerning the framework conditions that make difficult to high end companies to enter the Indian Market. With Mr. Branchini and Mr Gavazzi, also Alberto Piantoni (MISSONI) e Fulvia Visconti Ferragamo (SALVATORE FERRAGAMO) participated.

The 2012 edition of Altagamma Conference took place on Monday October 15th, at Palazzo Mezzanotte, Piazza Affari 6, in Milan.
The panel of studies on luxury sector included for the first time an Insight on the performance of listed Food&Beverage Companies.
Specific focus was dedicated to the European Luxury Industry, with the speech of Jean Francois Aguinaga of the European Commission and of the representatives of the 4 organizations that - along with Altagamma - are part of the European Culturaland Creative Industries Alliance (ECCIA).
With a special sale in the Isetan Department Store in Tokyo and an auction at the Italian embassy, the Altagamma companies collected over 200,000 euro to help children orphaned as a result of the March 2011 tragedy.
Between 2 and 9 October of this year, in a specially created space in the Isetan Department Store in Shinjuku, Tokyo, 1,400 products produced by the Altagamma companies – specifically designed for this operation – went on sale at very reasonable prices, attracting thousands of consumers.
12 of the 21 Altagamma companies that took part in the project donated a unique item for an auction that was held on 3 October in the Italian Embassy in Japan: Ambassador Vincenzo Petrone welcomed over 100 guests chosen from among Isetan’s top customers and representatives of the Altagamma companies to his residence for a gala dinner.
Thanks to the generosity of the Altagamma companies that participated in the initiative with such passion, the Heart for Children operation collected around 200,000 euro.
With this contribution, the Ashinaga Foundation will complete work on the Rainbow House in Tohoku, where the Foundation will support and provide education to children orphaned as a result of the events of 11 March 2011.
As well as developing structures for the short- and long-term social psychological support of children that have lost their parents, the project also involves training programmes for their guardians and low-cost dormitories for university students that were also orphaned following the earthquake.

Retail integration is the winning formula for high-end brands, whose strategies increasingly focus on single-brand channels, including flagship stores, e-commerce, shop-in-shops, and outlets, in traditional markets and in new ones.
Size matters: the competitive advantage of the big players triggers virtuous circles in terms of visibility, awareness, growth of sales outlets, profitability, and bargaining power.
Brands are also becoming increasingly digitalised. Online sales exceeded six billion euros in 2011 (+28% compared to 2010, three times faster than for the sector as a whole).

Prior to the premier opening of Vinitaly 2012 with OperaWine “Finest Italian Wines: 100 Great Producers” on March 24th 2012, the press conference OperaWine meets Altagamma “Italian Icons: From Fashion to Wine” brought together leaders of the bedrock industries of Italian culture.
“Italian Icons: From Fashion to Wine” was held in the Palazzo della Ragione, Verona, Italy. Opinion leaders, journalists and international wine professionals participated to the brief conference before heading to the Grand Tasting to experience the great Italian winemakers that poured their wines personally.
Fondazione Altagamma was Supporting Partner of India Design Forum, the first great promotional event for International Design in India, that took place in March 2nd-10th in Delhi.
Seven days of exhibitions and events spread around the Indian city, aiming to celebrate the indian design and aesthetic with a strong focus to the dialogue with international design, and a two-days forum with a dense agenda of meetings with a selected audience of design personalities from all around the world.

The Indian market was the focus of attention during the conference held in Milan on the 7th and 8th of November 2006. The Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry, Hon. Kamal Nath, participated as guest of honor.
The evening program of November 7th was held at the Chiostri dell'Umanitaria, where the induction ceremony into the Altagamma International Honorary Council of the new Indian members took place: FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry), Hindustan Times, Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ogaan Publications, The Oberoi Group, The Wadia Group and Verve.
On November 8th, at the Palazzo Mezzanotte, "The Experience of Excellence in India" conference took place, with speakers such as the Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry, Hon. Kamal Nath, the President of Regione Lombardia, Mr. Roberto Formigoni, the Undersecretary of the European Politics and International Commerce, Mr. Milos Budin, and the President of FICCI, Mr. Saroj Kumar Poddar. Mr. Leonardo Ferragamo introduced their speeches.
Following the speeches, two round table discussions coordinated by Alan Friedman took place. The topics discussed were the opportunities, obstacles and strategies for luxury brands to enter the Indian Market.
During the two days at the Four Seasons Hotel, over 50 bilateral meetings were organized between representatives of Italian and Indian companies.
These meetings were a great opportunity to establish new contacts and evaluate business possibilities; the large number of meetings is the proof needed to call it a success.

In Rome, on June 15th and 16th 2005, Altagamma held its annual event dedicated to the Russian, Eastern European and Middle Eastern markets.
The Foreign Affairs Minister opened the doors of the magnificent Renaissance Villa Madama to Altagamma on Wednesday evening, when the Investiture Ceremony of the new members of the Altagamma International Honorary Council took place. The new members are: Al Ostoura, Al Rubayiat, Al Tayer Group, Babochka, Bosco di Ciliegi, Cinmar Lighting, Imaco, Jamilco Zao, La Galerie Semaan, Lumina Aydinlatma, Mercury Distribution, Paris Gallery, Tony Salame Group, UAE and Villa Moda.
On Thursday june 16th, at the Tempio di Adriano, Mr. Leonardo Ferragamo, Chairman of Altagamma, introduced the conference: "The Experience of Excellence: Altagamma brands in the world economy and in emerging markets."
Alan Friedman coordinated three panel discussions. The first one was about the role of Altagamma brands in world economy: the Minister of Industry, Mr. Claudio Scajola, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Commerce, Mr. Adolfo Urso, and the Chairman of Confcommercio, Mr. Sergio Billè were speakers. The other two round table discussions analyzed the situation and the trends of the consumption of luxury goods in Eastern European and Middle Eastern Countries.

The investiture ceremony of the new members of the United Kingdom took place in London on March 17th 2005. The ceremony took place at the Royal Academy of Arts, at the same time as the opening of the exhibition "Luxury Living- Italian Designers for Italian Industries". In the presence of the President of the Italian Republic, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, Altagamma's Chairman, Mr. Leonardo Ferragamo delivered the symbols of AIHC membership, the beautiful silver plate - designed and manufactured by Bulgari - and the parchment, to the new members. They are: the Royal College of Arts, Saint Martin's College of Art and Design, Carluccio's, Club 21, Eurofood, Harvey Nichols, Kurt Geiger, Selfridges and the Tate Modern.

On the evening of July 8th, the induction ceremony to the new members of the Altagamma International Honorary Council took place at Villa Madama. Mr. Leonardo Ferragamo, Chairman of Altagamma, welcomed the Honorary Members: Banyan Tree Group, Daimaru, Hang Lung Group, Imagine X Group, Isetan, Kenzo Tange Associates, Li & Fung, Lotte, Mahagaya Perdana, Melium, Mitsui, Mitsukoshi, Rainbow Group, RSH Limited, Rustan Group, Sanki Shoji, Sanyo Shokai, Sun Motoyama, Takashimaya, The Hour Glass, The Link, Tianhong, Yamagiwa.
The following day, at the Tempio di Adriano, the Conference "The Experience of Excellence in Asia" took place, in the presence of Mr. Antonio Marzano, Minister of Production Activities, Mr. Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, Chairman of Confindustria, Mr. Sergio Billé, Chairman of Confcommercio and several CEO's and top managers of Altagamma member companies, as well as twenty entrepreneurs operating in China, Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia and in Philippines.
During the three panels, the discussion was about the situation and trends of the consumption of luxury goods in the three macro-areas China, North Asia, and South Asia.

On June 25th, 2004 in Florence took place the second meeting with North-American companies, who are members of the Altagamma International Honorary Council. During this occasion three new members were welcomed: Barneys New York, Hearst Magazine, Harry Rosen, by their three Chairmain's: Mr. Howard Scool, Mr. Michael Clinton and Mr. Harry Rosen.
The ceremony took place at Palazzo Vecchio, followed by a round table discussion, whose coordinator was Mr. Alan Friedman: the topic was the trend of the consumption of luxury goods in the US market; representatives of Altagamma member companies and of International companies participated to the meeting.
At the end of the ceremony guests reached Palazzo Pitti for dinner, walking through the Corridoio Vasariano, in the Galleria degli Uffizi, which connects the two historical palaces.

The induction ceremony took place in Rome, Villa Madama, on July 10th, for the investiture of new american members into the Altagamma International Honorary Council: American Express Company, Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdale, Condé Nast Publications, Gruppo Ristoratori Italiani, Interior Design Magazine, Louis Boston, Luminaire, Mitchells/Richards, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and Visa International.
The participants to the ceremony were invited to a reception offered by the Italian President of the Republic, Mr. Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, in the presidential Palazzo del Quirinale.
The conference "The Experience of Excellence in the US" took place the following day at the Tempio di Adriano. The introduction was held by Mr. Andrea Mondello, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce in Rome, and Mr. Leonardo Ferragamo, Chairman of Altagamma.
During the meeting, coordinated by Mr. Alan Friedman, three round tables were held. The first one focused on the top of the range products in the main international markets, followed by the presentation of the Altagamma World Market Monitor 2003. This presentation was held by Mr. Giovanni Cagnoli, Chairman of Bain & Co.
The panel discussion regarding the situation and prospects of the luxury goods market in the USA was introduced by the speech of Mrs. Kristine Miller, Director of Bain & Co. San Francisco; she reported the business upswing in US. The round table "The Culture of Excellence in the development strategies of Altagamma companies" was introduced by Mr. Guido Corbetta, Co-Director of the MAFED (Master in Fashion, Experience & Design Management), the post-graduate course organised in Milano by SDA Bocconi and Altagamma.

The first international diplomatic event of Altagamma was the conference "The Experience of Excellence" organised in Munich by Altagamma and Condé Nast Verlag.
This conference was the first step for the creation of a network of relations with international enterprises and institutions, which became, a few months later, the Altagamma International Honorary Council.
After the welcome speech of Mr. Bernd Runge, Managing Director of Condé Nast Verlag and Vice President of Condé Nast International, Mr. Leonardo Ferragamo, Chairman of Altagamma, illustrated the reasons and the goals of the conference; Mr. Armando Branchini, Secretary General of Altagamma, introduced the delegation of Altagamma and Mr. Santo Versace, Deputy Chairman, reported about the strategies to face the present economic situation, followed by a round table to discuss this matter.
Mr. Armando Branchini introduced the second round table, focused on the business partnership between Altagamma member companies and German retailers, as well as on strategies of Italian brands of fashion, design, food and hospitality.
